Become a "veray, parfit, gentil knight" as you "Cry God for Harry, England and St George." Find out about the noble art of heraldry in Gloucestershire and why it is still important today. get artistic and design your own coat of arms and make your very own Medieval catapult. Workshops are 1 and a half hours starting at 10am, 11.30am or 2pm. The day is run and funded by Gloucestershire Records Office.

Civil War Spymaster Workshop

Yate Heritage Centre presents unique holiday workshops - "Spymasters of the Civil War"  -learn about spying during the English Civil War in the 17th century.                                     Devise your own codes and have a go at writing with invisible ink.                                                    Discover the history of Yate'e role in the Civil War and the Cavalier's siege of Yate Court.

Workshops are at 10am, 11.30am and 2pm. Booking essential.                                             Funded by Gloucester Records Office.

Workhouse Day

Experience life in the local workhouse with our very own sessions based on our own research. With these hands on sessions you can dress as a Victorian workhouse child, and try some of the tasks and chores handed out by the master and matron.

Farm Food Day

Yate Heritage Centre present a day of traditional food making and consumption. Visitors will get hands-on experience of rolling corn, making flat bread, butter, discovering local cheeses as local farms would have produced it and see demonstrations of making food including sausages.  The Hobbs House Food demo begins at 11.30am.
