"Render unto Caesar" - Church Life in Gloucestershire with David Smith. The lecturer charts the history of the church in Gloucestershire from earliest times.

Yate & District Heritage Centre is proud to host the 2012 St George Celebrations. There will be Morris Dancing, Mumming, brass band performances, folk singing, story telling, majorettes, Punch and Judy and much more.

There will be a myriad of activities and stalls on the day and a civic procession at the start of the day to begin proceedings. A St George Rugby Competition will also take place with a presentation in the afternoon.

The 7th Yate International Festival once again promises a great day out for the community.

 Drawing on the many different cultures within South Gloucestershire we offer the following; - entertainment including Indian drumming, Chinese dance and Tai Chi, English folk singing, Irish Dancing, Latin American music, Steel Band, Hindu Puppet Theatre, Acro Gymnastics and school performers. 

There will be a myriad of different activities for families including Chinese and Indian crafts, Mosaic Workshop and other international games and activities.

There will be a range of pan Asian food also available at the event.

Discover the life of a Tudor housewife during the Christmas period. Cherry Hubbard of Yate Heritage Centre will be taking you through the food and home preparations involved in a Christmas of the mid 16th century.

Performances will take place at 11.30am and 2pm and will last around 1 hour.

Yate Lecture Series - The History of Celestine. David Hardwick delivers his definitive lecture on Celestine - the History and impact of celestine on the Yate Area. The lecture will accompany his book -The History of Celestine to be published in 2013.

Interested in your ancestors?   Wondered about what they did? These and many other questions may be answered at Yate Heritage Centre with expert guidance from Sodbury Vale Family History Society. 23rd March 10.30am - 4.30pm.

The public and interested parties are invited to attend the Heritage Centre AGM. As well as the necessary business, you will have the opportunity to hear County Archaeology Officer, Paul Driscoll give a talk on recent archaeological work in the Yate area.
