Archaeology Finds Day

Yate Heritage Centre welcomes back the Gloucestershire Portable Antiquities Scheme, who will be on hand to answer as many of your enquiries linked to your artefacts. Whether ancient of modern, found underground or on your mantelpiece, the experts will aim to identify and provide context for your objects.

The local Yate Archaeology Group will also be on hand to answer any questions on local archaeology and how you can get involved.

Yate Archaeology Day

Yate and District Archaeology Group proudly present the biggest archaeology and history day ever assembled at Yate. There will be a wide selection of demonstrations and re-enactments including: - a flint knapper,  Roman Army demonstrations, Medieval cookery, Medieval hunting, Tudor food, 18th century apothecary, and WWI and WWII demonstrations. There will also be the opportunity to try making your own pot, building a Roman mosaic, basket making and a host of other activities including: 

11am - 3pm Medieval and Tudor Music

12am, 1.30pm and 3pm Storytelling with a historic twist.

12am - 3pm Brass Rubbing activity in St Mary's Church.

Refreshments on the St Mary's Green and St Mary's Church throughout the day.

The day also offers the opportunity to meet representatives of your local archaeology group and get involved.
