World War II Discovery Day

Discover the fascinating wartime collections of The Yate Distirct Oral history Project. The group  have an extensive collections of wartime photographs, documents and oral history. Visitors will have the chance to explore the collections with experts from the group and hear some of the mazing oral history produced.

World War II History Day

The Second World War 70th Anniversary Day is a fantastic day of wartime hands on activities, demonstrations and entertainment. Discover World War II military operations including period military vehicles plus activities linked to the Home Guard, Land Army, food, Make do and Mend, medical plus games from the time. Wartime display will feature within the Heritage Centre. There will be wartime entertainment throughout the day on the green and in YHC.

Yate International Festival

Yate Heritage Centre hosts the best in International entertainment and culture in the Yate and South Gloucestershire areas. This unique events bring together different cultures and traditional for a wonderful community event. Acts already booked are Cameroonian dancers and  drummers, Irish Ceilidh and Indian Dhol drumming. There will also be the usual array of different "hands on" activities and the opportunity to discover different cultures. Funded by South Gloucestershire and Yate Town Councils.

Itinerary St Mary's Green: - 10.45am Official Opening 11am Mundi (Cameroonian) Dance and Drum, 11.30am Chinese Dance, 11.45 Youth Group tbc, Midday Alaina Herbert, Saxophonist, 12.20 Dilkush Dhol Drums, 12.35 Redds Dance and Theatre, 1pm Mundi Dance and Drums, 1.30pm Tribal Fantasy Dancing, 1.50pm Acro-Gymnastics, 2.15pm Polish Band, 2.40pm Irish Ceilidh, 3.05pm Dhol Drums, 3.15pm Vijay Bollywood Dance, 3.35pm Razzamatazz music and Dance 3.50pm Irish Ceilidh.

St George's Day Celebrations

A fantastic day of entertainment and enjoyment is promised for the 2016 St George Day celebrations. We promise some of the best in English inspired folk and Morris Dancing performances plus entertainment from local youth groups. An array of activities and stalls with a history and community theme will be there with support from St Mary's Church, School and the White Lion.

Experience Life 100 Years Ago

Life One Hundred Years Ago is an amazing history and community event looking at life in 1916 including the impact of the Frist World War  and the history of animals, transport and farming. There will be military and domestic vehicles and First World War re-enactors, not to mention, horses, sheep, pigs, steam engines and transport from the period. If that wasn't enough there will be perfomrances throughout the day including traditional music hall, brass bands and sea shanties. there will be displays of First world War material in both Yate Heritage Centre and St Mary's Church.

Itinerary (St Mary's Green): - 11am Yate Ukulele Players, 11.30am St John's Mead School Choir, 12.15am Press Gang Rejects (Sea Shanties), 1pm Apollo Wind Band, 1.30pm Ghost Soldier, 1.45pm Ken Uke's, 2.15pm Bertrand Xavier & Ruby Moodwarmer (Music Hall),  2.45 tbc 3.15pm Xavier & Moodwarmer.

The event is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, South Gloucestershire and Yate Town council, Heidelberg Cement and Dodington Parish Council

Yate International Festival

The 2016 Yate International Festival will once again, be one of the highlights of the local calendar with dance, music, costume, food, cultural activities and much more from a variety of cultures in Yate and South Gloucestershire. St Mary's Church will also be providing refreshments and tower tours. Funded and supported by Yate, South Gloucestershire and Dodington Councils.
