St George Celebrations 2019

St George returns to Yate in 2019. Once again we have a full day of entertainment to mark our patron saint. There will be English style entertainment including morris dancing, mumming, folk music and brass bands plus many young performers fomr the community. Punch and Judy and St George will also be laying on entertinament and there wil be numerous Medieval and modern activities plus craft and community stalls. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of Yate Heritage Centre and St Mary's Church. Funding is from Yate Town Council and South Gloucestershire Council.

Itinerary: - St Mary's Green. 10.45am Opening. 11am Thornbury Brass Band. 11.30am St Mary's School Choir. 11.50am Press Gang Rejects. 12.20 North Road School Choir. 12.40am Thornbury Brass Band. 1.10pm Rag Morris. 1.35pm Acro Gymnastics. 2.05pm Brigstows Folk. 2.35 St George Presentation. 3.05 Rag Morris. 3.35 Street Cred. 4.00 Brigstows Folk.

Friends Coffee Morning

The Friends of YHC will be hosting their annual summer coffee morning. Enjoy the convivial surroundings of Yate Heritage Centre and St Mary's Green and sample fine coffee and cake. Books, jewellery and bric a brac stalls will also be there.

Meet the Tudors

Come and discover the Tudors at Yate Heritage Centre. There will be several demonstrators showing you Tudor hunting, 16th century military displays, Elizabethan food and clothes and early Tudor crafts. You will also see a Tudor rat catcher and why not have a go at making aTUdor Rose? There will also be Tudor entertainment throughout the day including the Bristol Waites early Tudor singers and Elizabethan comedy. Tours, guides and display will also take place in St Mary's Church. Refreshments will be on hand on St Mary's green (Friends of YHC) and St mary's Church.    

Free admission. Funded by South Gloucestershire and Yate Town Councils and Renishaws.

Yate International Festival 2019

The 14th Yate International Festival will be featuring some of your favourite acts and some new ones. There will be a wide variety of activities with an Indian drums, Chinese folk dancing, Polish contemporary dance and the legendary Hindu Puppet Theatre along with a traditional English twist. The event always brings people together. See press for more details. Funded by Awards For All Community Fund.

Carol Evening

Come and join us on the Village Green adjacent to Yate Heritage Centre for our Christmas Carol Evening. We will be singing many of the traditional carols along with St Mary's School choir who will be doing some star turns. St Mary's Church will also be open from 5pm to view the Christmas trees as part of the Christmas Tree Festival. Yate Twinning Association will be supplying refreshments in Yate Heritage Centre after the singing.

Historic Walk around Stanshawes

Join us for a walk around the Stanshawes Court and Kingsgate Park area. This will take in Stanshawes Court, stables and Kingsgate Park formerly the grounds of Stanshawes Court. Provided with illustrations you will be able to discover a key part of the history of Victorian Yate, mineral workings and the former grounds of the park. Booking essential. Ideal for adults and older children. Refreshments at the Cakery and Stanshawes Court subject to ongoing restrictions.  Booking is essential.

Historic Walk - Heart of old Yate

Join us all for a tour of the old heart of Yate. This will take in Station Road, Church Road and the historic buildings round about. You will disocver more than you realised aboutt his area. Start at Yate Heritage Centre. Refreshments at local pubs subject to restrictions. Ideal for adults and older children and suitable for anyone with physical disabilities. Yate International Online Festival

This year's Yate International Festival will be an online event running on the day and following days. You can access this on twitter, which will feed updates to you from the link.

Online performances will include Mundi Dance and Drums, Bollywood dance and demonstrations, Chinese traditional and contmeporary dance, Irish and English folk, Tribal Fantasy and Indian cookery and yoga. Itinerary will be announced shortly.

St George Celebrations 2021

Yate Heritage Centre proudly hosts this year's 2021 Celebrations. This year will be online entertainment including classic folk from Nick Cocking, history comedy for all the family from the Ineptitudors, a St George lecture and St George activities. Funded by Yate and S Glos Councils. Please note most of the above will be online on YouTube (Yate & District Heritage Centre) or a live Zoom link.

Additionally, why not design your very own St George Flag for Kingsgate Park. Contact Friends of Kingsgate Park and Yate Town Council for more information.

23rd April - 7.30pm St George Talk - Paul Thompson of the Museum of London gives the historic background to St George and its Medieval context.

24th April - 1.30 and 3pm - Same Same Theatre unleash the Ineptitudors. Ideal for a family audience with madcap historic fun. Not to be missed. Please book for Zoom link.

23-25th April - English Folk Songs. Nick Cocking presents a medley of English folk songs for the St George weekend. Check out our YouTube channel (Yate and District Heritage Centre).

23rd - 25th April - St George workshops and St George and the Dragon play will also be available on both our YouTube channel and Facebook YateHeritageKidsZone

People are invited to book a tour of Stanshawes and Kingsgate Park as part of the Heritage Open Days. Discover the proud architecture of this stately Victorian mansion and its grounds. Yate International Festival

Yate International Festival is back at Yate Heritage Centre after being online last year. We will be staging another full day of international entertainment and activities on St Mary's Green.  There will be music, dance and food from Indian, Chinese, Polish, Irish and English groups and local youth performers will also be delighting audiences through the day. Funded by Yate Town and South Gloucestershire Councils.

Platinum Jubilee Celebrations

Yate Heritage Centre will be co hosting a free Platinum Jubilee event on St Mary's Green run by St Mary's Church and Yate Parish. There will be period music, storytelling and brass band music followed by a tea party for children. An exhibition and other activities will take place in St Mary's Church throughout the day.
